This is a blog for my daughter Scarlett. She was born with a complex congenital heart defect known as Tetralogy of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia. She is my little hero.

Heart Calendar 2010

Last week Scarlett's cardiologist group had a photo session for pictures to be showcased in a 2010 "Heart Calendar" of heart babies that are patients of the Scott and Laura Eller Congenital Heart Center at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. (wow, that's a mouthful).

This will be the first year they have done it, and I can hardly wait until the calendars are published and available for sale. I already have a dozen pre-orders. The price of the calendar is tbd (to be determined) but will likely be somewhere in a range of $15-$18 (under $20).

Scarlett [and about 40 other kiddos] had her picture taken professionally right there at the clinic in a conference room turned make-shift photopgaphy studio. She had pics taken both individually then later with 3 other TOF patients in a group photo.

The kids are wearing swimsuits because in the heart calendar, June is designated as Tetralogy of Fallot month, and the theme was 'at the beach'. Each month had a theme, and the kids were dressed accordingly... (totally cute idea!).

I didn't get any pics of her during her individual photo session, but I attempted to take some pics of the group shots. Which didn't go very well, because the models were either crying or attempting to escape.

The group shot did not last very long at all, and in the end, Scarlett was left with her fellow heart buddy named Angel.

If you are interested in purchasing a calendar, please send me an email: melodiemendivil@gmail.com, and I'll make sure that you get one! : )
