Sitting Up!

Todd called me at work today to tell me that Scarlett had been sitting up on her own a few times throughout the day. I was so excited. I came home and tried out for myself, and sure enough, there was my adorable little heart baby trying her best to sit unsupported. She tipped over only a few times, but for the most part, she was doing great at sitting up all by herself. Go Baby Girl!!

Hi! My name is Scarlett and I'm a heart baby. I'm 2 years old. I was born with Tetralogy of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia also called "Pulmonary Artesia VSD with MAPCAs". I had my first open-heart surgery when I was one week old. I had a BT shunt implanted in my heart that I outgrew when I was 7 months old. I had my second open-heart surgery to remove the BT shunt and implant a homograft to allow bloodflow between my heart and my lungs. But because I will eventually outgrow this too, I'm still not done...When I am around 3 years old, I'll need another operation to fix my heart, then again when I'm 10 and possibly again at 15 years old. I have what is called a complex Congenital Heart Defect. I will have lifelong follow-up care with a cardiologist because my poor little heart didn't develop like a healthy babys does. But its okay, I'm strong and I have a loving and supportive mommy and daddy. I also have the best doctors and nurses who take care of me.
